An introductory HR plunge

“There’s never been a better time to take a deeper dive into HR.”

In an extraordinarily competitive work environment, learning how to build and leverage engaged employees is critical to any organizations’ success, says, Denise Pringle, owner of HR Works!, a consulting firm that provides HR management and benefits administration services to small and medium size businesses.

Pringle, who has an extensive background in HR leadership at global Silicon Valley companies, teaches in the UCSC Extension Human Resources Management certificate program.

On Saturday, she will share some of that experience with students in Human Resource Management, Introduction, the first day of a two-Saturday introductory human resources seminar in Santa Clara.

“We’ll explore modern HR and the role it plays in an organization,” she says.

The course provides insight into the challenges and best practices of workforce planning, compensation and benefits, training, talent acquisition, and employee relations. Through lectures, class discussions and a team exercise, students will learn the fundamentals.

Students will also delve into the latest theories of human resources, recruitment, organizational development and company culture and the always-changing laws regulating the industry.

“There’s never been a better time to take a deeper dive into HR,” Pringle says. “HR is perfectly positioned to help take on this responsibility, but only if we’re ready to take on the challenge.”

Pringle, a former senior director of HR at Agilent Technologies and vice president of HR at Fujitsu Computer Products of America, has extensive global HR experience encompassing strategic business support, organizational development, and training. She is a frequent speaker at professional organizations throughout Silicon Valley.
